Music In The Air is een bewerking van het volksliedje Komt Vrienden In Den Ronde (Het Slijperswiel). De melodie werd voor het eerst opgetekend in het boek Honderd Oude Vlaamsche Liederen Met Woorden En Zangwijzen Verzameld En Voor De Eerste Maal Aan Het Licht Gebracht Door Jan Bols, Pastoor Van Alsemberg, Lid Der Koninklijke Vlaamsche Academie uit 1897. De oorspronkelijke tekst wordt onder de titel De Zingende Schaare-Slyper voor het eerst aangetroffen in een liederenbundel uit 1783. In de tekst van dit lied wordt het scharenslijpersvak vergeleken met diverse andere beroepen.
De arrangementen van Music In The Air zijn van Dick Bakker. De Engelstalige tekst werd geschreven door Ron Brandsteder. Deze tekst is geïnspireerd op het naderende einde van zeezender Radio Veronica, dat op 31 augustus 1974 vanwege het van kracht worden van de zgn. anti-piratenwet moest stoppen met uitzenden. De tekst moedigt aan om niet verdrietig te zijn en je te focussen op positieve dingen. Er zal altijd muziek te horen zijn.
